Bobcats lose area championship

BRECKENRIDGE – The Childress Bobcats’ football season came to an end on Friday, Nov. 18 when they lost the Area Championship to the Wall Hawks 44-10 in Breckenridge.

“After the game, we told the seniors how proud we are of them – proud of their leadership this year and the way they came to work every day,” Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Bo Helm said. “Most importantly though, we told them we loved them, as well as the other players.”

Helm said football is a tough sport that requires a lot of sacrifice, and that sacrifice binds them together forever. It was a fun season for Helm, Offensive Coordinator Reid Ware and Defensive Coordinator Matthew Olson.

“Obviously you always want to go further, play longer, win more,” Helm said. “But this group of players and coaches did so much this year and overcame many obstacles throughout the season. I’m so proud of the team as a whole.”

With his first season of coaching the Bobcats behind him, Helm is already looking forward to next year.

“I believe the future of Bobcat football is bright,” he said. “We’ve got plenty of work to do to get to where we want to be year in and year out, but we’ve got a great core group of guys coming back that will build on the foundation that this senior class has helped lay.”
