Help Childress Helping Hands during The Panhandle Gives
CHILDRESS – Childress Helping Hands has been helping local families for the last eight months, and now all of Childress has a chance to help too with The Panhandle Gives.
From Monday, Nov. 21 through Tuesday, Nov. 29, the Amarillo Area Foundation will host The Panhandle Gives, an annual event that raises money for Panhandle non-profits, such as Childress Helping Hands, said Childress Helping Hands President Kacy Crouch.
“Our organization is working to fill a need not being met in our community,” she said. “Help is needed through financial donations to meet our goals.”
Crouch wants the community to know 100% of donations raised during The Panhandle Gives goes to Childress Helping Hands. On top of that, if Childress Helping Hands raises at least $250 during the campaign they will receive a percentage match of the total amount of the Amplification Fund.
The Amarillo Area Foundation established the Amplification Fund, which is made up of money given from foundations, corporate sponsors and individual donors, to amplify the amount of money participating organizations receive during the campaign, the Amarillo Area Foundation website stated.
Childress Helping Hands has provided $10,271 in rent, utilities, clothing and food to 27 Childress County families since March 15, 2022, Crouch said. The non-profit has also partnered with the New4U Thrift Store and the Food4U Food Pantry to help with food and clothing needs.
“Childress Helping Hands is dedicated to providing emergency financial aid for those who are financially struggling, sick or elderly in Childress County,” Crouch said.
Childress Helping Hands is governed by a Board of Directors and staffed solely with volunteers, Crouch added. In addition to her, Shelly Preston, Stephanie Castor, Tesa Nix, Allison Taylor, Reynalda Juarez, Phillip Rhodes, Annabel Jurado, Polo Lizama, Vanessa Arnn, Raymond McGee and Susan Leary serve on the board.
“We, the Board of Directors, are asking for your help,” Crouch said. “If you feel compelled to donate to assist Helping Hands with a financial donation, please know you are making life a little less hard for those struggling.”
