Eat Wild a success

CHILDRESS – Childress Women’s League hosted its 13th annual Eat Wild on Saturday, Nov. 5, raising $21,218 for its Backpack Program.

“We could not be more pleased with the success of this year’s event,” said Childress Women’s League President Shelly Preston. “With your donations, raffle items and sponsorships we have been able to ensure the continued success of the Backpack Program.”

Eat Wild is the premiere event that financially supports the nonprofit’s Backpack Program, which provides food on the weekends for children and their families, Preston said.

Childress Women’s League members include Preston, Emilee Stratton, Carol Freeman, April Foard, Susan Leary, Donna Anders, Camille Cano, Sage Seal, Amanda Tucker, Teresa Session, Tam Cash, Kalin Bradley, Courtney Jalomo, Falon Stone and Tammie Lizama.

“It is our commitment to make sure children are fed on the weekend and have access to after school snacks to assure optimum educational success,” she said.

Preston would like to thank everyone who supported them. “You truly make the difference for us,” she said. “We are extremely grateful!”

Childress Women’s League members have a special thanks to Fatboy Hat Owner Kevin Jones for making sure they had the opportunity to have their annual shirt fundraiser. They also honored Iris Energy at the event for giving them a $10,000 community grant.
