Eat Wild will benefit CES Backpack Program
CHILDRESS – The Childress Women’s League’s Eat Wild is a night of food, music and helping a good cause. Mark your calendars – it’s at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Elks Lodge.
“The night is a lot of fun and supports our CES Backpack Program,” said Childress Women’s League member Susan Leary.
All proceeds will go to the Backpack Program, which provides food for meals throughout the weekend for 24 families, with a total of about 100 people. Leary said the Childress Women’s League distributes food September through June.
“Our Backpack Program is different than most who provide snacks mainly,” she explained. “Our program provides full meals, which include protein and fresh ingredients.”
Eat Wild will feature The Local Nobodys from Lubbock. In addition to fantastic music, Leary said they will serve buffalo sliders and a shrimp/sausage boil.
“This year our heavily sought after T-shirts depict our theme Roam Wild,” she said. “Fatboy Hat Company Owner Kevin Jones is providing us with shirts, caps and koozies. We are very excited to work with him.”
Because of Jones, the Childress Women’s League is able to start fundraising before the event. The shirts are for sale now. They can be picked up or delivered. Those who would like a shirt can reach out to a Childress Women’s League member.
Tickets can also be purchased through a Childress Women’s League member or at the Chamber office. Leary said it’s best to purchase in advance to assure a meal at the event. Members include Shelly Preston, Carol Freeman, Emilee Stratton, Donna Anders, Teresa Session, Tam Cash, April Foard, Sage Seal, Camille Cano, Shelby Bocanegra, Kalin Bradley, Cortney Jalamo, Tammie Lizama, Falon Stone and Leary.
“Childress has supported the Backpack Program and is the reason we are able to provide families meals on the weekend,” Leary said.
