Good turnout at Childress Senior Center fundraiser

CHILDRESS – The Childress Senior Center raised $300 at the Bean and Cornbread Lunch fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 7 at their building, located at 403 S. Main Street.
“We’ve had a good turnout,” said Pam Goundie, Childress Senior Center cook and president of the board. “It’s been good.”
At the fundraiser, they served beans, cornbread, a dessert and drink for $10. People could either eat there or take the meal to go. Childress Senior Center Director Glenda Goundie said this fundraiser was very important to the Childress Senior Center.
“This will help us get some repairs on the building,” she said.
The money raised will go toward fixing the bathroom and new flooring for the main room, explained Pam Goundie, who shared the Childress Senior Center hosts a Thursday meal that is open to the public. All they ask is attendees either contribute food or make a financial contribution for the meal.
“We would be glad to have anybody,” Pam added. They also hosts game nights for dominoes and cards on Fridays. Once a month, they have a jamboree with local musicians. The building can also be rented for events.
