AryCo HVAC Electric & Plumbing recently opened in Childress, and they have some tips on winterizing your home before temperatures drop to single digits this weekend.
“Leave a faucet dripping on the hot side,” Master Plumber Blake Scott said. “That way you got water circulating through the whole system.”
He also said to disconnect all water hoses from your hose BIBs on the outside of the house and insulate water pipes that are exposed to winter temperatures. For those who have frozen pipes that burst during the winter storm, AryCo plumbers will be here ready to help after the winter storm passes.

“Today’s been a pretty special day,” AryCo HVAC Electric & Plumbing Owner Mark Ary said. “We were truly humbled by the outpouring from this community. We’re very grateful.”
Since they opened their doors, they’ve been busy. “Business is actually booming,” Mark said.
I caught up with HVAC technician Abe Friesen while he was working at the Childress County Courthouse. “We are going through and checking all the ACs and seeing what kind of maintenance they need,” he explained. “We’re excited to be here in town and looking forward to meeting the community.”
He became one of my heroes while he was working. “There was an elderly lady with a walker coming in,” Abe said when I asked him about what I saw. “She was going through the door, so I went over there and held the door open for her.”
Abe had his own business for 10 years before he joined AryCo HVAC Electric & Plumbing. “I was very leery about going to work for another HVAC company,” he admitted. “But I’ve been very happy with AryCo. They’re a fair, honest company.”
Plumbing Apprentice Jaron Judd agreed. “They’re very integrity- and family-based,” he said. But that’s not it. “The camaraderie’s nice, and everybody is very friendly and helpful. Everyone has been very welcoming.”
Childress Branch Manager Jase Morton said the Childress community has been welcoming as well. “Everybody has been so nice to us, trying to solve their problems,” he said. “We get an awe reaction when we tell somebody we can show up the same day or within the next hour. They love it.”
Customers have told him it’s either everybody’s booked out or it’s Amarillo or Lubbock companies that have to come out here and the service charge is insane. “We’re trying to bridge that gap,” he added.
Mark wants the public to know this, “We are not here just to take your money and take it back to North Texas. We are here to get involved in the community and give back the community.”
He did this in Decatur when he established the original AryCo business. Since then, it’s been an A+ Better Business Bureau Accredited business in Wise and Montague Counties and voted READER’S Choice by the Wise County Messenger since 2014.
“I want the people of Childress to know we’re here to give back,” said Mark, who wants to work with Clarendon College and plans to start a yearly scholarship for Childress High School students. “What we want to do is give a scholarship every year to one student and then give them the opportunity to come over here and intern for a summer.”
AryCo is also looking for experienced plumbers, HVAC techs and experienced electricians. “If we had someone who was mechanically inclined but not necessarily experienced in a trade, we might look at them as a helper,” he said. “I would never say don’t apply.”
