Commissioners Approve Partially Closing CR 23

In a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 15, the Commissioners Court of Childress County approved partially closing County Road 23.
Lancium Representative Jason Marshall presented maps showing their request to partially close County Road 23 just past the first two properties owned on the West side of County Road 23 to County Road BB. Since they own the property on both sides of the county road it can be included in their campus for safety purposes.
Commissioner Mark Ross made the motion to approve partially closing County Road 23. Commissioner Rick Elliott seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
The Commissioners Court of Childress County also held its December meeting on Monday, Dec. 8 at the Courthouse.
Ross made the motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Elliott seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
Then Ross made the motion to approve the monthly reports. Elliott seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
Up next Commissioner Jeremy Hill made the motion to approve the 100th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Chapter 59 Asset Forfeiture Report for 2024-2025. Elliott seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
Hill also made a motion not to approve opening a new bank account for the Constable’s Comptroller Training funds. Ross seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
Constable Shade Miller discussed possibly moving money from a line item to a bank account for Comptroller Training funds. As discussed in previous minutes, Comptroller Training Funds will stay in a separate General Fund line item for both the Constable and the Sheriff’s office.
Ross then made the motion to approve the resolution for the joint primary in March 2026. Elliott seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
Elliott then made the motion to approve appointing Early Voting Ballot Board members. Ross seconded it, and the motion passed unanimously.
The last item on the agenda was monthly bills. After hearing them, Ross made a motion to approve the monthly bills, Elliott seconded it and the motion passed unanimously.
