Super Bowl LX will feature the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8 on NBC. You asked for my go-to recipes, so here they are!
For those who know me, know I love football. I like to go all out cooking and decorating for Super Bowl Sunday.
You asked me to share my Super Bowl recipes, so they are in this special issue. In addition to the recipes, I made the dishes a little early and took pictures of them.
Since you asked, I also included stories behind each one. I hope you cut out the recipes and enjoy making these snacks as much as I do!
Pigs in a Blanket are my go-to snack when I go to a Super Bowl party.
They only have two ingredients and are easy to make! Since the Hillshire Farm Lit’l Smokies Smoked Sausage Links are already cooked, Pigs in a Blanket don’t take that long to cook.
I usually make them about an hour or two before I go to a Super Bowl party. Then I put them in a football bowl to make them more festive.
It never fails, they are always the first to go!
I also bring White Chocolate Holiday Popcorn to Super Bowl parties. Sometimes, I’m told I can only come to the party if I bring my popcorn! Over the years, I’ve learned to bring recipe cards for this.
It’s always a hit! By the end of the game, my White Chocolate Holiday Popcorn is gone. This makes me happy, because it takes a while to make.
I highly recommend buying extra white chocolate or Almond Bark. I usually burn the white chocolate or Almond Bark the first go-around. The second time always works, and I am so thankful for the extra Almond Bark!
When I give the recipe to someone, they call after they make it the first time. They always say, “Thank you for telling me to buy extra Almond Bark! I burned it just like you mentioned, and I panicked. But then I remembered I had extra. Thank you!”
I always make this in advance to prepare for the white chocolate or Almond Bark burning. It’s also fun to eat a piece every once in a while when I’m making the other Super Bowl recipes. I like to put them in a football bowl to match my Pigs in a Blanket.
If I host a Super Bowl party, Little Smokies are the first thing I add to my list. Instead of buying one bag of Hillshire Farm Lit’l Smokies Smoked Sausage Links, I buy one or two more, depending on the number of people attending.
Just like Pigs in a Blanket, Little Smokies only have two ingredients: Lit’l Smokies and BBQ sauce. They are also easy to make! I put both into a crockpot, and that’s it.
I like to make them early – either the day before or several hours before. I use my football crock pot, and they fit in perfectly on the table.
I always add Crock Pot Rotel Dip to my list of foods to serve if I’m hosting a Super Bowl party. It’s another quick and easy appetizer!
I just add Velveeta cheese and ROTEL to a crock pot and move on to the next dish to prepare. I always use a bigger crock pot for this recipe, and if I have time, I like to add ground beef.
I usually make this before the Super Bowl, but I’ve made it the day before too. This is another appetizer that goes fast. I like to kept extra Velveeta cheese and ROTEL handy to make another round.
7-Layer Dip is another must if I’m hosting a Super Bowl party. It’s a crowd-pleasing dish, because there is something for everyone in it.
If I know I’m going to be super busy on the day of the Big Game, I make the first two layers (refried beans/salsa and sour cream/taco seasoning mix the day before). Then on game day, I only have to make the guacamole, cheese and veggie layers.
The 7-Layer Dip disappears quickly. I’ve learned to make myself a plate before the party starts if I want a scoop of 7-Layer Dip.
While I usually make pull a part cupcakes in the shape of a football with brown icing for the football and white icing for the laces, this year I tried something new. I’ve seen this cake decorated like a football field and wanted to bake it for years.
It was so much fun decorating it with sprinkles for the crowd and putting goal posts on each end zone! This is a keeper recipe, and I will make it again for the Super Bowl next year.
Since I have so many football dishes, I like to add chips and salsa to my table. It’s simple and only takes seconds.
Once everything is made, I like to decorate a table. Compete with a football crock pot, I use football bowls – both small and big, a football cutting board and football paper plates and napkins.
