Bloom Boutique to host Smiley’s Food Wagon

CHILDRESS – Bloom Boutique will host Smiley’s Food Wagon during lunch and before the Bobcat football game on Friday.

“We have fed the Childress football teams on some of their away games and have had a positive response from players, coaches and sponsors,” said Smiley’s Food Wagon owner Brad Townsend. “We thought we would come to Childress.”

His son is Garret Townsend, a Childress Junior High teacher and coach. Just like his father, Coach Townsend had an overwhelming amount of positive feedback.

“I would encourage people to come to the food wagon, because you will be greeted with a smile, the food tastes great and you will not be disappointed, said Coach Townsend, whose favorite item on the menu is the brisket Frito burrito (a brisket Frito pie wrapped in a tortilla). “I will add that his new BBQ sandwich with bacon is right up there with the Frito burrito.”

In addition to the brisket Frito burrito and BBQ sandwich, Smiley’s Food Wagon will serve brisket Frito pies, cheeseburgers, fries, tater tots and onion rings from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The older Townsend started Smiley’s Food Wagon a year ago. While he’s based out of Fritch, he said he travels throughout the Panhandle area, making weekly stops in Claude and Clarendon and biweekly stops in Gruver, Perryton and Spearman.

In addition to these stops, Townsend said he sets up at car shows, rodeos and class reunions. He also offers catering for events and parties.

“Smiley’s Food Wagon is a dream fulfilled,” he said. “The name Smiley is a nickname I’ve had since I was in the 5th grade and has followed me since.”

Now, Smiley’s Food Wagon has a following too. Here are a few reviews left on its Facebook page:

“Smiley’s food wagon is my absolute favorite food truck that comes to our small town…I always go get supper when they are here!”

“Just had the brisket Frito pie and tater tots and they were delicious! friendly and fast service as well! We will definitely be back!”

Townsend said call-in orders are welcome on Friday. His number is 806-223-2761.

Bloom Boutique owner Lena Teichroeb is excited to host Smiley’s Food Wagon even though she has never met either Townsend. “He (Brad Townsend) was super nice about asking to use my space, and I’m here for the community!”

She encourages people to come early or stay late to shop.

“We have cute and affordable clothes, shoes and accessories to accommodate the confidence that’s already in us,” she said. “We have sizes for all and want women to feel beautiful in who they already are in Christ.”
